Donation FAQ

Why doesn't DC916 accept monetary donations?
As a community-focused group, we prefer to keep things simple and avoid the administrative overhead of managing financial donations. This allows us to focus on our mission of building a strong cybersecurity community in Sacramento.
What kinds of tools are useful to donate?
Based on our group's focus areas, we appreciate:
  • Hardware: Raspberry Pis, Arduino boards, ESP32/8266 devices, badge-making components
  • Radio/SDR: Software Defined Radios (SDRs), HackRFs, antennas, RF equipment
  • Lock-picking: Practice locks, pick sets, teaching aids
  • Homelab equipment: Network switches, routers, servers for security testing
  • AgHacking: Agricultural IoT devices, sensors, control systems
  • ICS/SCADA: Industrial control system components, PLCs, HMIs
  • Wireless: WiFi adapters with monitor mode, Bluetooth sniffers
  • Books: Texts on malware analysis, reverse engineering, red teaming
These items support our workshops, training sessions, and hands-on projects in reverse engineering, malware analysis, hardware hacking, and other cybersecurity areas.
How are donations used?
Donations are used for community workshops, training sessions, and to provide resources for members who want to learn but may not have access to certain tools or materials.
